Anika Dhar (‘Survivor 47’ exit interview): ‘I got played before I could play them’
On Wednesday’s fifth episode of “Survivor 47,” Jeff Probst tricked the three tribes with a tribe swap fake-out at the challenge for a “Survivor Social Hour” co-mingling reward barbecue. With rumors swirling among the other tribes that they was being run by a strong two-person alliance and following a deflating immunity challenge loss, Gata was forced to split down the middle over competing alliances. This time, Anika Dhar was caught unaware by a blindside and was sent home in tears and utter shock. Read on for her “Survivor 47” exit interview from the end of the episode.
“I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty devastated,” Anika began moments after being voted out by at least one member of the “Breadwinners” alliance she helped form. Anika, Rachel LaMont and Sierra Wright named their alliance to symbolize their solidarity as an all female alliance. Because of early friction and constant struggles at challenges, their plan was to eliminate Andy Rueda. Anika, in particular, was 100% sold on the plan and told Jeff at tribal council that she’s confident she’s in the majority.

“The worst part is how confident I felt,” explained Anika. “I got played before I could play them.” The switch-up that Anika was unaware of was how close Sierra and Sam Phalen were and Sam’s ability to sway her toward trusting Andy’s loyalty more than they could Anika’s. Sierra and Sam pulled Andy in early on in the game when he was at the bottom of the tribe, earning his trust and loyalty, while they felt that Anika was smart enough to eventually turn on them.
Before Anika left the game, she questioned who had orchestrated her blindside. Sam raised his hand and Andy said that it was all three of them together. Rachel denied knowing anything about it, which is true as far as we know. Anika’s shock was so total that she even refused to say bye to anyone, instead turning and walking away as tears started to drop. In her final statements, Anika concluded without any sense of closure, “It came to an end too quickly for me. I don’t know, I’m just — I’m devastated.”
Anika is now the fifth person to be booted from “Survivor 47” following Jon Lovett, Terran “TK” Foster, Aysha Welch and Kishan Patel.
