Amy Grant on life after bicycle accident: 'I feel fantastic'
Best-selling Christian artist Amy Grant shared new details this week about a 2022 bicycle accident that resulted in a multi-night hospital stay.
The accident — which took place last summer when Grant struck a pothole on a ride near Harpeth Hills Golf Course — left the singer unconscious for 10 minutes, she said in a sit-down interview with NBC's "Today" show. Doctors at Vanderbilt University Medical Center treated Grant for her injuries last July. Wearing a bicycle helmet saved her life, she said via "Today."
Still, she suffered a brain injury that caused memory loss, according to the interview. After the accident, she began writing memories in a notebook as a way to exercise her mind.
" ... I was just writing to remember, writing — making sure I could remember everybody’s name in my family, which I couldn’t, at first,” Grant told NBC.

It may take up to 18 months for Grant to complete her recovery from the accident. During her "Today" interview, the singer also outlined her bounce-back from 2020 heart surgery and a cyst doctors removed from her throat in January.
As for how she's doing after these health concerns?
"I feel fantastic," Grant said.
Grant kicks off a spring tour this week in California; nearby shows include April 28 in Huntsville, Alabama, and April 29 in Chattanooga. She plans to release a new single, called "Trees We'll Never See," on March 24.
