AMI x K-Way Has Me Praying for Rain
Because this is a post about a very dope collaboration rooted in foul-weather functionality, I'm going to take the opportunity to make a really bad Missy Elliott joke. Because, unlike the Supa Dupa Flyest of them all, I can stand the rain. Or at least I'll be able to when the joint effort from Parisian labels AMI and K-Way hits stores later this summer. (Content gods, please forgive me.)
The collection consists of just three styles, but they all pack a punch thanks to strategic color-blocking and bold vertical stripes. On the color-blocked side, you've got the Eiffel AMI long windbreaker and Richard AMI parka. On the striped front, it's just one model: the Claude AMI windbreaker. Both the lightweight windbreakers can be packed into themselves and worn over the shoulder. The parka can't. But honestly, with looks this good, it's unlikely that's going to bother anyone.
There are two colorways across the three styles: blue and red, both of which are set off by hits of black, orange, and yellow. Whatever you choose, it'll manage to walk that fine line between being bold and, you know, something that guys will actually want to wear. And that's by design.
"I share a design philosophy with K-Way that is casual, elegant, and easy wearable," AMI designer Alexandre Mattiussi said in a statement about the collaboration (though I'm guessing he meant "easily"). "I focused on translating the charming and offbeat nature of the AMI guy into the design: bright colors, playful candy stripes, oversized silhouettes, and an interaction between different fabrics."
If that doesn't have you praying for rain, I'm not sure what will. The collection is priced between €129 and €229, or about $150-270, and will be available through AMI, K-Way, and Farfetch as of August 31. Until then, here's something to tide you over.
