‘American Idol’ Semifinals: Former Winners Sing With Contestants
On Thursday’s American Idol, past winners of the show came back to sing duets with 12 of the contestants. Pairing up seasoned professionals with contestants plucked from anonymity is bound to be an unfair proposition.
Fantasia Barrino sang with contestant Jordan Sasser, who tried to hold his own against the enigmatic and dynamic singer. However, Fantasia traded runs with La’Porsha Renae. Jennifer Lopez said their duet of “Summertime” by Ella Fitzgerald was “mind-blowing.”
The highlight of the night turned out to be the flirting between Lauren Alaina and contestant Mackenzie Bourg. Immediately after she hugged him, Lauren said she was getting butterflies in her stomach. She thanked American Idol for pairing her with Mackenzie and was excited that she got to “be on stage with this hottie.” Mackenzie laughed it off, but as they sang Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance,” we detected a little chemistry.
American Idol airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 pm on FOX
