‘America’s Got Talent’ Ratings Steady, ‘Extreme Weight Loss’ & ‘5th Grader’ Down As NBC Wins Night
Howie Mandel had to make an on-air apology last night for some ill-considered remarks about the entertainment value of bulimia but that didn’t seem to affect America’s Got Talent (2.1/8) very much. With Mandel’s regret, which he repeated online, and another round of live performances on Tuesday, AGT dipped 9% among adults 18-49 from its August 18 show. The highest rated and most watched (10.20 million) show of the night, AGT could see adjustments in later numbers, as it has many weeks.
Even with a 15% demo drop for Hollywood Game Night (1.1/4), NBC easily won Tuesday’s primetime with a 1.8/6 rating and an audience of 8.30 million. In second place, in both the demo and viewership was CBS with a 1.0/3 and 6.77 million watching. CBS’ only original of the night was Zoo (1.1/4), which was bookend by NCIS (1.0/4) and NCIS: New Orleans (0.8/3) repeats that were the second and fourth most watched shows of the night. As for Zoo itself, the animal attack drama rose 10% from last week among the 18-49s.
ABC and Fox both had one original on last night with Extreme Weight Loss (0.6/2) and Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? (0.5/2). The latter lost 14% of the demo from its August 18 show, matching a series low in preliminary numbers. The former was down 16% from last week.
The CW was all encores on Tuesday.
