Amazon Adds Two Original Series in Japan

TOKYO — Amazon has announced the release of two original series for its Amazon Prime Video service in Japan.
One is “Baby Steps,” a 10-episode live-action drama based on a popular comic about a high school boy’s troubles and triumphs in the world of tennis that has sold 7.2 million copies in 39 paperback editions. The show, enhanced by 4K effects, will begin streaming on July 22.
The other release is “Crayon Shin-chan: Alien vs. Shinnnosuke,” a 13-episode series based on the long-running TV anime and movie franchise about a cute, if obnoxious, kindergartner, and his much-put-upon family. Following its August 3 premiere in Japan, the series is set to roll out in the U.S., U.K.and Germany, with exact dates as yet unspecified.
