Alicia Vikander Says She's Felt Unprotected While Filming Nude Scenes And Explained Why They're The "Worst Thing"

You know Alicia Vikander from her acclaimed performances in films like The Danish Girl, Ex Machina, and The Green Knight.

In a new interview with Harper's Bazaar, Alicia talked about her experiences doing nude scenes onscreen, as well as how Hollywood fails to properly take care of actors who film them.

“It’s the worst thing ever to do those scenes," she says. "I am very comfortable with my body and I’ve done quite a bit of nudity and sex scenes, but it’s never easy.”

Intimacy coordinators are typically used to film nudity and sex scenes, but according to Alicia that wasn't always the case.

“The only thing that can’t be improvised is an intimate scene — you have to make choreography and stick to it," she explained, after noting that intimacy coordinators "should have existed at the beginning of my career."

Alicia went on to say that, in her career, she's found herself "in situations that were not fine, where I didn’t feel I was protected."

“[One time during filming] everyone was busy doing their own thing and, in the middle, you have an actor who sits there naked for a couple of hours," she recalled.

"And someone is supposed to arrive with a robe, and they don’t. It comes afterwards, [the knowledge that] that was not right."

"I should have been looked after.”
