Alec Baldwin May Not Be Getting a Warm Welcome From Hollywood Despite Dismissal of ‘Rust’ Charges
Alec Baldwin’s Rust manslaughter case was dismissed with prejudice on July 12, 2024, and he probably thought his troubles were behind him. However, he’s finding that his Hollywood comeback isn’t happening the way he expected, and it’s reportedly a disappointing turn of events for him and his former A-list career.
An insider shared with In Touch Weekly how Alec and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, have reacted after such a traumatic chapter in their lives. “They assumed everything would go back to status quo, but it hasn’t — and now they’re desperately worried they’re free-falling into outcast status,” a source claimed. The couple attended the first-round matches at the U.S. Open on Aug. 26, and the 66-year-old actor showed up looking downright “exhausted.”

Their summer also didn’t turn out the way they wanted because they were apparently hoping to “reinvent themselves on the Hamptons social circuit — but invites to parties were few and far between.” The Baldwins’ sadness about their social life, and his hopeful return to the entertainment industry, wasn’t helped by Pulp Fiction director Quentin Tarantino’s belief that Alec was somewhat at fault for the accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in 2021.
“It’s a situation, I think I’m being fair enough to say, that the armorer [Hannah Gutierrez-Reed] — the guy who handles the gun — is 90% responsible for everything that happens when it comes to that gun,” Tarantino said on Bill Maher’s podcast Club Random in August. “But the actor is 10% responsible. You are a partner in responsibility to some degree.” Tarantino said the quiet part out loud — there seems to be some hesitancy in hiring the 30 Rock star because many people think he was, in part, accountable for the tragedy.
Alec and Hilaria are currently in production on their 2025 TLC reality show, The Baldwins, and that set has been fraught with rumors, too. A second In Touch Weekly source described it as a “disaster” because Alec “thinks he knows best, on everything from the storylines to the camera angles to the lighting. Alec thinks he’s filming a movie, not a cheap reality show. He doesn’t seem to understand there is no script or lines for him to learn.”
It sounds like it’s going to take some time for Alec and Hilaria to heal and for Hollywood to circle back on hiring him again. Tinsel Town loves a comeback, and maybe the reality show will be Alec’s gateway to forgiveness.
