Alan Cumming Reacts To Emmy Win With 3am Selfies From Bed
Although Alan Cumming couldn’t be at this weekend’s 76th Creative Arts Emmy Awards, he wasn’t about to sleep on the celebration.
The Traitors host reacted to winning Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program, sharing an acceptance speech along with some late night shirtless selfies of his “Emmy winning look” in bed, where he was first alerted to his big win.

“A series of selfies taken at 3.38am just after waking up to find I had won an Emmy!” Cumming captioned the post. “In my dream I was thinking I had set my alarm too early and I should really wake up and change it to an hour later, and of course the reason I was dreaming this is that my phone had been buzzing constantly for about twenty minutes with people trying to tell me I had won the Emmy for hosting The Traitors!
He continued, “I wasn’t able to be at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony in Los Angeles because of filming commitments in Scotland, so I wasn’t able to thank the people who made this possible. But I hope writing my thanks down here – and not spouting them in a frenzy of fear at having the dreaded music cut me off on live TV – will make them feel more sincere and heartfelt to those I am truly indebted to.”
Cumming went on to thank Peacock, NBC Universal, Studio Lambert’s Sam Rees-Jones, his stylist Sam Spector, agent Courtny Catzel, Vision PR’s Jami Kandel and Leslie Sloane, as well as manager Nikola Barisic, before turning his attention to the rest of the Traitors team and his husband.
“Thank you to all the Traitors crew up at Ardross castle who keep smiling despite the long hours and the Scottish weather, and sweet baby jesus, how could I forget the amazing cast who were so fun to play with,” he wrote.
“Finally thank you forever to Grant Shaffer who supports and loves me in everything I do and will always receive the most votes in my castle,” added Cumming.
Cumming’s win broke RuPaul’s eight-year winning streak for RuPaul’s Drag Race. Next weekend, The Traitors is up for Outstanding Reality Competition Program at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards, airing live Sunday, Sept. 15 on ABC at 8pm ET.
