Alan Cumming Makes Bold Claim About Taylor Swift: She 'Stole My Look'
Alan Cumming, known for his bold fashion looks both on the red carpet and on screen, shared his honest thoughts on whether or not Taylor Swift's striking VMAs red carpet look might've been inspired by him.
After seeing Swift's look, Cumming noticed some similarities with his wardrobe while hosting the reality competition show The Traitors, which featured plenty of plaid. He shared a fan's montage image on Instagram that said, "I'm Taylor Swift and welcome to The Traitorsssss," adding in the caption, "Ahem, @taylorswift."
Days afterward, Cumming arrived on the red carpet for the 2024 Emmy Awards in a black kilt, off-white jacket, and a red, white and green plaid shirt and wraparound fabric accent, representing his Scottish heritage.
During an interview for People and Entertainment Weekly's red carpet show, Cumming was asked about whether or not he thought Swift copied his style.
He mentioned his cheeky social media post about the situation, before joking, “B---h stole my look."
Cumming also used the moment as an opportunity to share a tease about the new season of The Traitors as he said, “In the next season there’s a look I have that’s very similar, but I think it’s hilarious that so many people said ‘Taylor Swift looks like Alan Cumming,’ which is a sentence I never thought I would hear.”
Fans didn't seem to mind his playful jab, with one commenting on Entertainment Weekly's video saying, "Absolutely love Alan Cummings and guess what??? So does Taylor ??."
"I wish I could pull off an outfit like that ????," said another of his Emmys look, while a third replied, "Love him so much ??????."
Quite a few also recognized that Cumming's comment about Swift was likely a reference to the late Joan Rivers and Fashion Police, as it's something she would often say on the program, with a fan enthusiastically writing, "Joan Rivers quote ?? yassssss!!!!"
