Aidy Bryant Jabs At Kieran Culkin Kissing Sketch That Was Cut From ‘SNL’, ‘The Brutalist’ Budget & More In Second Go-Round As Spirit Awards Host
In hosting the 2024 Spirit Awards, Aidy Bryant took on the dual strikes, AI and her ex-boyfriend’s obsession with indie cinema. But this year she went less topical and more broad, chiefly serving up a memory from her days on Saturday Night Live.
At the top of her monologue, Bryant spoke about a sketch that was cut from SNL whereby she had to go in for a kiss with the Indie Spirit winning and Oscar-nominated A Real Pain actor Kieran Culkin.

“The sketch was cut and never made it to air,” she told the crowd at the Santa Monica Pier, hard to tell if she was telling the truth or joking. “It’s a thing that I had to live with. I’m sorry to Kieran and Kieran’s wife.”
Then she went for the punchline: “I’m being told that Kieran is not here. Well, I guess, I’ll say this: I didn’t go for the kiss. I was doing a normal nothing-ass kiss. If I did go for it, his ass would be divorced!”

Culkin hosted SNL during Season 46 in 2021. Bryant left SNL at the end of Season 47 in May 2022.
“It has been a great year for film, a bad year for human life,” joked Bryant.
“All the films here were made for less than $30M,” she continued. “I know that might feel like a lot of money. Imagine my whole body is the budget for Wicked — your film is just my tit!”
She then made aim at The Brutalist, which is up for 10 Oscars, making known that the pic was made for $10M.
“That works out to about $1 per minute,” she dinged about the three-hour-plus epic with intermission.
Bryant then went around the room, poking fun at nominees.
“Amy Adams is nominated for Best Lead Performance in Night Bitch. “Yes, I know Amy played a night bitch, in real life, but she’s a regular old day drunk!”
Barreling to the point, Bryant emphasized, “‘Night, bitch’ is what my husband and I saw to each other before we go to bed.”
Bryant then went after her fellow Phoenix amiga, two-time Oscar winner Emma Stone, who was in the room with four Spirits nominated movies.
Sniping at the La La Land actress’ new short hairdo, Bryant said, “Emma, you look so good, you’re starting to piss me off.”
Turning to the Spirits-nominated A24 movie Sing Sing: “Many of the actors in Sing Sing are formerly incarcerated men!” Bryant said. “In bigger Hollywood movies, there are men that should be incarcerated. Whatever actor springs to mind for you – you’re right!”
