Adventure Landing water park to stay open for summer '24 in Jacksonville Beach
The "toilet bowl" will stick around for at least one more summer.
Adventure Landing, the Jacksonville Beach water park that is slated to be demolished to make way for a luxury apartment complex, will remain open through September 2024, owners announced last week.
The park has provided thrills for 28 years. Popular attractions include a wave pool, the Rage overhead water-coaster, 35-foot-tall Hydro Halfpipe and the Eye of the Storm, commonly referred to by riders as the "toilet bowl" because it circles them around a bowl-shaped structure before dropping them through a hole into a pool underneath.
The park is also the site for the popular Haunt Nights Halloween attraction, which runs from Oct. 6-31 this year with two haunted houses, Coven and The Sideshow in 3D.
This is the second year in a row that the park has gotten a reprieve from the wrecking ball. It was originally scheduled to close before the 2023 season, but park operators cut a deal with their landlords last December to keep it open. A news release announcing the latest deal notes that season tickets are now available for 2024 and birthdays and special events are being booked through next September. The release also notes that the park is looking for a new location in the Jacksonville area and that they'll be hiring at least 300 people for next summer.
Trevato Development Group purchased the 22-acre property at 1944 Beach Blvd in 2022 and plans to build 415 apartment units on the site.
