Adam Driver Jokes “Wokeness Killed Han Solo” In ‘SNL’ Monologue

“I’m so excited to be back, especially during this time of year,” Driver said during his monologue. “I love Christmas. It’s my favorite holiday, the food, the music, the family… But largely it’s because I have a very deep and personal relationship with Santa.”
Driver went on to explain that he has a special ritual with Santa where the actor tells the North Pole resident his list. The Girls alum then made a joke naming a past SNL cast member.
“Usually I do it in private,” Driver said of his ritual with Santa. “Since we’re here, and I know Santa watches SNL. He hasn’t liked it since [Chris] Kattan left.”
Driver then proceeded to make his Christmas list, singing it to Santa accompanied by a piano where the actor showed off his skills.
As he sang his list, Driver then noted, “I liked for people to stop coming up to me on the street saying, ‘You killed Han Solo.’ I didn’t kill Han Solo, wokeness killed Han Solo.”
Driver’s comments about Star Wars come after his appearance on Max’s Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace? where he mentioned this happening to him regularly.
“Somebody reminds me about that every day,” Driver joked on the show. “Not every day but yeah, it used to be more but now it’s probably once a month somewhere.”
Driver also talked to Wallace about how it was filming the scene with Ford saying, “Obviously, John Williams’ [score] wasn’t playing in the background and it was very emotional actually, shooting it with Harrison. Harrison was so generous and contemplative and to me that was a great moment on set, even though it was his death.”
