ABC’s ‘High Potential’ Sets Todd Harthan As New Showrunner
Todd Harthan, executive producer/showrunner of Fox’s longrunning medical procedural drama The Resident, has been tapped as executive producer and showrunner of the upcoming ABC series High Potential starring Kaitlin Olson. He replaces Rob Thomas who recently stepped down. The series, which has been on a production hiatus, is slated to resume filming next month.
Created by Drew Goddard based on the French format, High Potential stars Olson as Morgan, a single mom with three kids and an exceptional mind, who helps solve an unsolvable crime when she rearranges some evidence during her shift as a cleaner for the police department. When they discover she has a knack for putting things in order because of her high intellectual potential, she is brought on as a consultant to work with a by-the-book seasoned detective Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), and together they form an unusual and unstoppable team.

High Potential is produced by ABC Signature, a part of Disney Television Studios. Goddard and Sarah Esberg executive produce for Goddard Textiles, as well as Pierre Laugier and Anthony Lancret of Itinéraire Productions, a UGC company and Jean Nainchrik of Septembre Productions, a Mediawan Company. Olson serves as producer.
Harthan has experience running a series created by someone else having led The Resident to a successful, six-season run. The medical drama was produced by ABC Signature sibling 20th Television, so this marks his return to the Disney TV Studios fold. Harthan is repped by UTA, Circle Management + Production and Yorn Levine.
