Abbi Jacobson and Jodi Balfour Wed in Off-The-Rack Dresses from The Row
The newlyweds celebrated with an outdoor ceremony, an intimate dinner and a surprise party for guests at Public Records in New York
Abbi Jacobson is married!
The Emmy Award nominee, 40, and now-wife Jodi Balfour exchanged their “I dos!”
Balfour, 37, and the Broad City co-creator celebrated their milestone with an outdoor ceremony and dinner at Public Records in New York. However, their special day had unexpected weather and it rained during their celebration.
Balfour explained to Cultured that their “outdoor seated dinner became an indoor buffet.”
“I remember calling Emma, the chef, on the brink of tears about the idea of a goddamn buffet. We had been planning the seated dinner for months. Emma said, ‘It’s going to be beautiful. There will be no bunsen burners.’ She called in Sophie to help make it possible. I was so relieved that we had chosen these partners in crime.”

The For All Mankind actress continued and shared that the party they hosted was a surprise for guests. “After dinner, the Westerlies burst out of the kitchen playing Stevie Wonder’s ‘Sir Duke.’ We followed them from the dining room to the dance floor in the sound room, where Matt FX [music supervisor on Broad City] started DJing. I also surprised Abbi by asking our friends Lukas [Frank] and Zach [Dawes] to perform ‘True Love Will Find You in the End.’ "
Jacobson added that their first dance was to Aretha Franklin’s “Don’t Let Me Lose This Dream,” and during their dance, her dress “destroyed Jo’s tights within 35 seconds.”
“It really was ‘one of those nights,’ said Balfour. She noted how they were celebrating “in a dark wooden room with no windows, [with] an insane sound system, and a disco ball” and “floral installations.”

Adding, “Everyone’s nice clothes became wet rags. People were smoking who don’t smoke. Our moms did the hora. It was like we all existed in a different dimension for a while.”
While everyone’s celebration attire “became wet rags,” Jacobson shared how even getting dressed was not what they expected. She revealed they got “ready in a supply closet” because “everything switched around” due to the rain.
Balfour added that both their gowns were from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's The Row and “right off the rack," with Jacobson in a sultry black gown and Balfour in a bright white ensemble.
“Thanks Mary-Kate!” joked Jacobson, sharing that the couple “wanted to mix it up” for the party. “Our friend Alexis [Novak] owns this store called Tab Vintage in LA. She has an incredible collection. I changed into Versace chainmail, and Jo wore Vivienne Westwood.”
