Aaron Rodgers Fan Protects His QB’s Throwing Arm on ‘Big Fan’

On ABC’s new show Big Fan, fans of celebrities compete to see who is the ultimate superfan. Then, in the final round, one fan battles it out with that celebrity. Part 2 of the premiere on Monday night featured Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and one of his fans was sure not to put his team at risk.

When Wisconsin native Eric Bombinski came out, he refused to shake Aaron’s right hand, saying, “Oh, no, no, no, gotta keep that safe, buddy, gotta keep that safe.” Eric didn’t want to hurt Aaron’s throwing arm, because he thinks this could be the year: “We’re keeping that arm safe and we’re going to the Super Bowl!”

Eric said in his audition tape that his wife thinks he kinda looks like Aaron, and when the show’s host, Andy Richter, asked if anyone ever mistook him for Aaron, Eric responded, “Now that they touched up my hairline, I think I do look pretty good. I gotta lose 100 pounds, I look more like you right now.” The audience thought that was unsportsmanlike conduct, but Andy was OK with it, saying, “Some of us are built for speed, others are built for pleasure.”

Big Fan airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on ABC.
