Social place, shareable plates
A father-mother-son trio opened their second restaurant as a social gathering place to fill a void in the town where they live. The menu features appetizers, handhelds, salads and small-plate options for now, but the chef plans to add steak and more. Read the full story.
Smash burgers, Detroit pizza
A small takeout joint opened to serve smash burgers, fries and Detroit-style pizzas only. For the burgers, they use a flat press and parchment paper to smash the burgers and create crispy edges. For the pizza, they use 80% water and 20% flour in a 48-hour fermentation process to make the square dough. Read the full story.

An Italian family is bringing their authentic recipes to their new trattoria, pizza bar and restaurant. They make the pizza dough fresh daily, and they claim to have the best garlic knots. They've even created 6-ounce handmade garlic knot sandwiches. Read the full story.

A new restaurant serves its full menu until 10 p.m. every night, but a late-night menu is served until 11 p.m. weekdays and until 1 a.m. weekends. It specializes in small plates and craft cocktails. Read the full story.

A 42-year-old fish market and restaurant closed one location this week but will keep its other location open. It originally opened as just a fish market along the Indian River Lagoon but grew with a takeout window and later became a sit-down restaurant. Read the full story.
