Smoothie, juice bar, cafe
The new smoothie and juice bar with a small cafe is run by a husband-and-wife team from the Bahamas. They have been trying to open their restaurant since 2020 but were delayed by the coronavirus pandemic. Read the full story.

Coffee chain opens in Stuart
Cali Coffee opened its first Treasure Coast location on Feb. 24 at the newly constructed Pineapple Plaza on Federal Highway in Stuart. The statewide drive-thru and walk-up chain that doesn't have indoor seating is planning to open 12 new locations in Florida, including Stuart and Port St. Lucie. The second location isn't expected to open until next year, said co-owner Craig Avera.
Burger chain opens in Sebastian
Five Guys opened a Sebastian location on Feb. 7 in the same Sebastian Corners plaza as the Indian River County Tax Collector’s Office. It’s at 1929 U.S. 1, which was the previous location of Las Palmas Cuban Restaurant before it moved to The Shoppes of Sebastian.
CLOSED RESTAURANTS
Longtime restaurant closes
West End Grill in St. Lucie West, which originally opened in 2005, closed in December. The restaurant had put up sign that it would reopen in February but never did.
Burger joint closes
Square Pie in Vero Beach, which opened in October last year, closed in January after its owner moved the business down to Miami. Burger 101 remains open at Ty’s Deli.
CLOSING SOON
Island Beach Bar & Restaurant, which opened three years ago in the gated community of Ocean Village on South Hutchinson Island, is closing May 21. The owner’s other locations include 2nd Street Bistro in downtown Fort Pierce and The Twisted Lime in Vero Beach.
