50 Cent Says He Would Have To “Tap Into The Stupid Side” To Create New Music
Fans awaiting new music from 50 Cent might have to hold out a little longer. The New York rapper shared his take on the state of the industry and why most of his new, creative endeavors have been outside of the recording booth and on the screen. Speaking with Earn Your Leisure at the 2024 Invest Fest, which took place in August, the rapper discussed the quality of today’s releases.
“If you listen to the music that’s out right now, I have to tap into my stupid. I have to tap into the stupid side of me to write the right thing when it comes time to write the music,” detailed the “Many Men” performer.
The 49-year-old continued to explain, “This why I haven’t created as much content as I was creating in the past and I started going towards the film production and development of these projects. Because I can impact things in a bigger way through that.”
Despite this revelation, the entrepreneur has recently teased a musical comeback. In 2023, the Grammy winner exclaimed, “I’m gonna remind people I’m nice this year.” The message promised new music as well as movies and television projects.
In January 2022 the mogul hinted that whenever his next album is finalized, it might be his last. He explained his potential retirement saying, “I probably think I’ll deliver another full length album and then the other things that I do will be connected to film and television in a different way.” The clarification was made after he previously asserted he “terrorized” Hip-Hop for more than a decade.
50 Cent’s last official album was 2014’s Animal Ambition. In 2015, he released the mixtape The Kanan Tape, and has been featured on tracks with Ed Sheeran, Pop Smoke, Tory Lanez, Nicki Minaj, Nas, and more since 2017.
