5 must-see holiday shows to check out in Albuquerque this season
Nov. 12—If you're looking for a unique holiday experience this season in Albuquerque, there are a variety of shows you may want to check out.
Here are five options to help make your holiday memorable from the classic Nutcracker Ballet to a brass instrument performance.
The Nutcracker Ballet
The New Mexico Ballet Company will be joined by the New Mexico Philharmonic and current stars of San Francisco Ballet and New York City Ballet to present this holiday classic. The show will take place at Popejoy Hall with shows running on Nov. 30, Dec. 1, Dec. 7 and Dec. 8.

NM Philharmonic: Home for the Holidays
The New Mexico Philharmonic will be putting on "Home for the Holidays" this year. Taking place at Popejoy Hall on Dec. 14, this show will feature all the holiday favorites. Directed by Roberto Minczuk, the NM Philharmonic will join forces with some of the finest young musicians in New Mexico to craft this holiday show.
The show will last two hours from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and tickets will range from $35 to $95. Enjoy this years holiday pop concert with friends or family.
Candlelight: Holiday Special
This holiday special will take place at The Clyde Hotel on Dec. 20 from 9 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. This concert will be in candlelight and will create the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience. The concert will feature the Listeso String Quartet, who will present music from "The Nutcracker" and much more.
Those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are broken down by zone and seating is first come, first serve for each zone. Doors will open 30 minutes before the show. Ticket prices can be found below:

Canadian Brass- Making Spirits Bright
Celebrate the holiday season with this quintet of brass musicians as they preform both original arrangement and holiday favorites like "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Charlie Brown Christmas," "Silver Bells, "Songs of Hanukkah" and "Jingle Bell Rock." The concert will take place at Popejoy Hall on Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets range from $25 to $72 per person based on sections.
Nutcracker in the Land of Enchantment
Presented by the Festival Ballet Albuquerque at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, this performance takes a twist on "The Nutcracker." This show will transport the audience to territorial New Mexico in the late 1800s, with added elements of the state's heritage and traditions including Spanish dancers, Southwestern snakes, a storyteller doll with children and lavish Western Victorian-era costumes.
The show will take place from Dec. 20 to Dec. 22. The show starts at 7 p.m. each day with an additional performance on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $16, $25, $35, $45 and $55, with a $2 discount for seniors, children 10 and younger and NHCC members.
