A native of Thailand has opened a new restaurant to share her grandmother’s recipes. The Asian food restaurant combines cuisines from Thailand and Japan because she added sushi rolls to the menu. Her son, who’s the chef, previously worked in New York City and learned how to make sushi. Read the full story.

A new restaurant that includes a distillery and cigar bar has finally opened after about a year of delays. The restaurant’s menu features shareable food and tapas-like items that people can eat while having a conversation. Read the full story.
New York bagel shop with pretzels
A father and daughter, who didn’t know the other existed until last year, have opened a bagel shop. The co-owner was in the bagel business for 25 years, owning shops in New York, New Jersey and North Carolina. He had just sold his last bagel shop to retire when he discovered he had a daughter. A young couple has opened a healthy hangout with protein shakes and pre-workout and energy drinks. They want customers to be able to enjoy a game on the TV while having a protein shake, a pre-workout drink before the gym or a daily nutritional refresher. Read the full story.

Downtown market, grocery store
A new cafe and grocery store in downtown Fort Pierce closed after only three weeks. The owner cited a one-two punch: unexpectedly slower sales and higher equipment costs. Read the full story.
Landmark barbecue is gone
The Treasure Coast has lost a landmark barbecue since 1991, as the restaurant and food truck that served it have closed. The corner-lot restaurant had outdoor seating, limited indoor seating, a drive-thru for takeout orders and a smoker that often blanketed the area with the tantalizing smell of barbecue. Restaurant, wine bar closes
A downtown restaurant that featured drag shows has closed. It also had nightly live performances and events, such as a saxophonist, "buck a shuck" oysters and a DJ every Friday. Read the full story.
Polish restaurant, hot dog joint
One of the best hot dog joints on the Treasure Coast closed Oct. 13. It was one of only four Polish restaurants in the tri-county area.
