After 33 years, a popular Jacksonville-area restaurant is closing. But new locations are planned.
After 33 years of serving its signature made-to-order pizzas, craft burgers, hand-spun milkshakes and salads, an iconic homegrown Jacksonville-area restaurant will close permanently in two weeks as its owners focus on establishing new locations in Northeast Florida.
The Loop Pizza Grill will close its restaurant at 550 Wells Road in Orange Park on Feb. 15 after choosing not to renew its lease. The Jacksonville-based restaurant chain announce the closure as well as its expansion plans Wednesday afternoon in a news release.
“We’ve served our Orange Park neighbors since 1990, and we look forward to serving you soon at one of our 10 Northeast Florida locations,” Marla Quattrone, chief marketing officer for The Loop, said in the announcement.

Quattrone said the company plans to relocate Wells Road employees to existing locations. The restaurant's customers will be welcomed at three nearby locations where they can redeem 10% off coupons, she said. They include:
Fleming Island: 1960 E. West Parkway #110, Fleming Island
Mandarin: 9965 San Jose Boulevard #58, Jacksonville
Avondale: 4591 Lakeside Drive Unit 101, Jacksonville
The Orange Park restaurant will be the third location of The Loop to close since 2021 in the Jacksonville area.
The Loop in Neptune Beach shuttered its doors in July 2021 after 30 years. At that time, the franchise owner told the Times-Union that he wanted to relocate and was searching for a new site.
And in November, the Loop at St. Johns Town Center closed after 10 years. At that time, the restaurant chain said it would be focusing on new locations and opportunities.
As those doors close, others will be opening for The Loop, according to the news release.
The Loop intends to open a new location at World Golf Village and also is exploring potential sites in Sawgrass, Oakleaf and in North Jacksonville. It also is looking to expand its presence in North Carolina.
Under franchise owner Maurilio Gonzalez, The Loop plans to open this year at World Golf Village
Gonzalez, who operates Loop restaurants at Fleming Island, Nocatee, Julington Creek and Amelia Island, couldn't be reached immediately for comment.
