We recently asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us the best ending to an episode of television they've ever seen. Not just finales, but any episode from any season of a series. The spotlight was put on some top-tier scenes. Here were the results. Brace yourself — there are some powerful, intense, captivating moments!
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.
1.The end of ER Season 6, Episode 13, when Carter gets stabbed, falls to the ground, and sees his colleague, Lucy.
"A patient played by David Krumholtz stabs Dr. Carter in the back. The episode built up to it perfectly, but you never saw it coming. The patient was shown to be agitated and a little aggressive, but not violent. The knife had been shown earlier in the kitchen because someone brought a cake for the Valentine's Day party, and because the music was so loud, nobody could hear Carter scream for help. In the final shot, as he fell to the floor, he looked across the room and saw his student, Lucy, looking back at him, lying in a pool of her own blood. The party music drowns out his voice as he yells, 'LUCY?!' Then, cut to black. This would be the catalyst for Carter's battle with addiction to painkillers for the rest of his time on the show."
Here's the scene:
2.The end of Midnight Mass Season 1, Episode 5, when it's showing what happened to Riley, while Riley talks to Erin in the middle of the ocean on a tiny raft.
"Once he is done, your first thought is that he is going to kill her, second is he will 'turn' her, but ultimately his reason for the location is more gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, and shocking. I just kept saying, 'No, no, no!' Visually striking, and the acting and dialogue are spot-on perfection. It's a masterpiece."
Here's the scene:
3.The end of Scrubs Season 5, Episode 20, when Dr. Cox loses three patients.
"The way he walks out of the hospital with tears in his eyes. Even after all these years, if I hear "How to Save a Life" by the Fray on the radio, my mind automatically goes to this episode. Seeing Dr. Cox break down after being the strong, self-assured doctor was heartbreaking. Still chokes me up even though I've seen it a thousand times."
Here's the scene:
4.The end of You Season 2, Episode 8, when Joe gets dosed with LSD.
"No spoilers, but I did not see that episode ending coming."
Here's the scene:
5.The end of Atlanta Season 2, Episode 6, when Darius is about to be murdered by Teddy Perkins.
"The whole episode was very unsettling. Darius is saved by Benny, only for Benny to kill himself in front of a still tied-up Darius. He went through so much shit that day and didn't even get to keep the piano."
Here's the scene:
6.The end of Game of Thrones Season 1, Episode 10, when Daenerys withstands fire with her newborn dragons.
"After Daenerys stands inside of a fire, the smoke clears from Drogo’s funeral, and she stands up with three baby dragons. Everyone in the khalasar bows to her, and baby Drogon makes a little dragon roar. I still get chills when I watch it."
Here's the scene:
7.The end of Game of Thrones Season 3, Episode 4, when we're under the impression that Dany sold her dragon. It turns out she tricked Kraznys, ordering her new army to kill his slave masters, and then directed one of her dragons to burn him with the single utterance of "Dracarys."
"It was such a huge moment for her character, showing just how cunning, smart, and strong she is and what she would do. And I mean, it was a total badass reveal."
Here's the scene:
8.The end of The Office Season 6, Episode 5, when Jim and Pam get married.
"It ends with them at Niagara Falls on the boat. Just the look on Jim’s face at the end when he’s holding her, and his monologue about planning to marry her a long time ago. It’s one of my favorites."
Here's the scene:
9.The end of Peaky Blinders Season 2, Episode 6, when Tommy is led to imminent death.
"Tommy is taken to an isolated field, where he notices four gunmen. He realizes then that it's the end of the road for him. Cue Murphy's memorable performance."
Here's the scene:
10.The end of Breaking Bad Season 4, Episode 11, when Walter can't find the money to help his family get away after their lives are threatened because Skyler gave it to Ted.
"Walter rushes home to get $500,000 to pay someone who can help his family 'disappear,' after Gus fires him and threatens to kill his loved ones. Walter comes home and looks in the crawl space where the money is hidden, only to find that it's missing. Skyler approaches him, scared, and Walter asks where all the money is. She then tells him she gave it to Ted Beneke to avoid IRS trouble. Walt starts crying maniacally, and it turns into a crazy laughter. The whole thing is nuts."
Here's the scene:
11.The end of 24 Season 1, Episode 24, when Jack finds his wife.
"They set up the premise for the entire run of the show that no one was safe. After watching Jack go through a grueling day, saving his family, and Palmer only to find his wife, Teri, dead at the office was unthinkable. Especially after the way he'd confronted Nina so violently just before it, not knowing at the time that she'd killed his wife. Just ridiculous television and perfectly acted by Kiefer Sutherland."
Here's the scene:
12.The end of New Girl Season 2, Episode 15, when Nick and Jess finally kiss.
"The episode kept teasing it and then right at the end, Nick just goes for it. It's my favorite episode."

"We see the Nauvoo flying over Miller's head, and we think that it’s missed. Then, it shows that Eros, AN ASTEROID, just casually moved out of the way on its own."
Here's the scene:
14.The end of M*A*S*H Season 3, Episode 24, when we find out Colonel Blake's fate.
"Radar comes into the operating room and announces that Colonel Blake’s plane was shot down, and there were no survivors. The whole episode was about how happy he was to be heading home from the Vietnam War, and then he’s killed on the way. Just a shocking, heartbreaking ending."
Here's the scene:
15.The end of Ozark Season 3, Episode 10, when Marty and Wendy arrive at Omar's and something shocking happens.
"Literally left me with my jaw dropped."
Here's the scene:
16.The end of Sherlock Season 2, Episode 1, when we see Sherlock save Irene Adler.
"It gave me chills. It's such a strong love story, and when everyone thinks Irene Adler is dead, we see that Sherlock saved her. He calls her 'the woman' at the end, like he's closing the case on the love of his life."
Here's the scene:
17.The end of Blue Bloods Season 8, Episode 22, when Jamie and Eddie show up to dinner together.
"Jamie and Eddie had spent the last few seasons teasing that they would become a couple, but decided against it so they could remain partners on the job. Throughout the episode, they were talking about what the would buy if they received $5 million. At the end of the episode, Eddie senses Jamie is in danger, and she saves him from being shot. They embrace, and Jamie says, 'I'd spend the 5 million on you.'
Cut to the classic dinner scene with the whole family, and Eddie joins the table as Jamie's fiancé. Such an incredible episode!"
Here's the scene:
18.The end of Lost Season 3, Episode 22, when Jack and Kate's interaction revealed a stunning twist.

Then she called out his childhood name, Christophe, which made him realize she was involved in his life when he was a kid. I was on the edge of my seat, and the ending made my jaw drop and left me stunned. Such an intense and excellent episode."
