2025 Oscar nominations: 'Emilia Pérez' leads with 13 nods, followed by 'The Brutalist' and 'Wicked' with 10. See the full list.
The awards show takes place on March 2 in Hollywood.
The golden statues are polished, and the red carpet is ready for Hollywood’s biggest stars to arrive. It’s officially time for the 2025 Oscars.
The awards show celebrating excellence in film takes place on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre and will air on ABC. Conan O’Brien is hosting and there’s a star-studded list of presenters, but it’s all about the nominees, the best and brightest stars in Tinseltown who left their mark on cinema last year.
After the Oscar nominations were postponed (twice!) due to the Los Angeles County wildfires in January, they were announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Jan. 23.

Emilia Pérez — Netflix’s Spanish-language musical crime dramedy about a Mexican drug kingpin who undergoes gender-affirming surgery — is the most-nominated film going into the big show, with nods in 13 categories, including Best Picture, Best Director (Jacques Audiard) Best Actress (Karla Sofía Gascón) and Best Supporting Actress (Zoe Salda?a).
However, controversy around Gascón — stemming from comments she made and past X posts that were called racist, Islamophobic and xenophobic — have dulled the film’s shine, a disappointment in the historic moment of Gascón being the first transgender woman ever nominated for Best Actress.
Behind Emilia Pérez are The Brutalist and Wicked, which both had 10 nominations.
For the former, about an architect and his wife who fled post-war Europe for the United States in 1947, Adrien Brody (Best Actor), Guy Pearce (Best Supporting Actor) and Felicity Jones (Best Actress) are nominated in the acting categories.
Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo (Best Actress) and Ariana Grande (Best Supporting Actress) are among the nominees for the big-budget film adaptation of the popular Broadway musical.
Yahoo Entertainment has been tracking the Best Picture race all awards season, and Anora is the film to beat. It’s a Cinderella story about a New York stripper and the son of a Russian oligarch falling in love.
