‘Emilia Pérez,’ ‘The Brutalist,’ ‘Shōgun’ top 2025 Golden Globes: Complete list of winners
The 2025 Golden Globes shook things up on Sunday night.
The ceremony, hosted by roaster extraordinaire Nikki Glaser (nimbly righting the ship after last year’s Jo Koy-helmed debacle), featured showdowns of epic proportions with heavyweights like The Brutalist and Conclave competing in dramatic film categories, while Emilia Pérez, Anora, and Wicked squared off in the musical/comedy slate.

When the dust settled, Emilia Pérez, which came into the evening with a record 10 nominations, led the way among films with four awards: Best Comedy/Musical, best non-English Film, supporting actress Zoe Salda?a, and Best Song (“El Mal”). The Brutalist tallied three awards: Best Drama, director Brady Corbet, and lead actor Adrien Brody. As expected, Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain) received the supporting actor trophy, and Wicked won for cinematic and box-office achievement.
But without a clear Oppenheimer-esque favorite, things got interesting. Demi Moore brought down the house after her surprise Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical win for The Substance, beating a stacked field. Likewise, I’m Still Here star Fernanda Torres topped A-list favorites Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman to win Best Drama Actress, becoming the first Brazilian actress to achieve the honor. Sebastian Stan pulled the upset in Best Comedy/Musical Actor, capturing the statuette for his transformative turn in A Different Man. And in what might have been the biggest jaw-dropper, the low-profile Flow won Best Animated Feature over the powerhouse likes of Inside Out 2, The Wild Robot, and Moana 2.
Anora, meanwhile, had the roughest night. Despite being favored for Best Comedy/Musical and Best Comedy/Musical Actress for Mikey Madison, the show failed to cash in any of its five nominations.
On the television slate, Emmy champs Shōgun (drama), Baby Reindeer (limited series), and Hacks (comedy) all repeated at the Globes. With its TV-leading 4-for-4 sweep, Shōgun matched a record set by the original miniseries in 1980. The biggest surprise on the TV side: Colin Farrell winning Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actor for The Penguin over Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer).
