Your 2022 guide to farmers markets in the Cincinnati, NKY area
With summer just around the corner, it's almost time for one of the most anticipated arrivals of the season: farmers markets.
Picture it, summer 2022 and you're spending a Saturday morning perusing the vendors of your local farmers market. Perhaps you're looking for some fresh produce for a recipe you're preparing or you want a beautiful bouquet of wildflowers to brighten up your home. Maybe you have an insatiable craving for some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies or searching for organic skin care products. Regardless of what led you there, you know that your day is well spent mingling with members of your community and supporting hometown mom and pop shops.
Farmers markets have become a summertime staple in recent years, and it's a trend that will likely increase in popularity with each passing season. The Farmers Market Coalition outlines several goals and advantages of these local markets including, "preserving America's rural livelihoods and farmlands, stimulating local economies, increasing access to fresh, nutritious foods, supporting healthy communities, and promoting sustainability."
In short, farmers markets allow community members to buy from regional farmers and businesses, contribute to their local economies and have fun while doing it.
Note: Some markets run year-round, but many more are open during the summertime and offer a variety of seasonal goods. Here is a roundup of this year’s farmers markets in the Cincinnati area.
