15 TV Pairs That Need to Couple Up
This Valentine’s Day, we don’t want roses or chocolates or even diamonds. Instead, the only gift that our hearts desire is for Cupid’s arrow to strike some would-be TV couples that need to get together.
Below, TVLine has handpicked 15 pairs from current shows that we hope will end their will they/won’t they tension and put us out of our ‘shipper misery as soon as possible. We’re rooting for two Grey’s Anatomy docs, a Chicago Fire fling (that almost got serious), a trippy Severance relationship and for several other duos to give in to their chemistry. Also among our selections are pairings from Ginny & Georgia, The Rookie, NCIS: Origins and XO, Kitty.

Plus, in the case of 9-1-1 and Stranger Things, we’re crossing our fingers for overdue reunions for some former couples that belong together. Because — to paraphrase the great Noah Calhoun — it’s never over.
And we don’t want these characters to just hook up. We’re talking commitment, so it’s time to DTR. (That’s “define the relationship,” for the uninitiated.)
Scroll down to review TVLine’s list of TV characters who should couple up, then hit the comments with the pairs you wish would get together already!
Buck and Tommy, 9-1-1
We assume that his sister getting kidnapped by a serial killer will keep Buck fairly preoccupied when 9-1-1 resumes its eighth season this spring, but once she’s safe and sound, we’re hoping Buck can shift his focus to happier matters — like getting back together with Tommy! Arguably Buck’s most meaningful romantic relationship yet, his and Tommy’s story feels tragically unfinished. They owe it to one another (and us) to at least give things another shot. — Andy Swift
Ava and O’Shon, Abbott Elementary
The blatant sexual attraction between Ava and O’Shon is so heated that we’re scratching our heads about why they’re not acting on that palpable chemistry. Yes, Ava is used to a certain lavish lifestyle, but the school district’s nerdy-hot IT specialist has brains and brawn. (You just know that when he takes off those glasses, it’s like a She’s All That moment.) Plus, we’re so curious to see what it looks like when the principal is in a romantic relationship. — Vlada Gelman
Tina and Jimmy Jr., Bob’s Burgers
Oh, come on. We know as well as Tina does that she and Jimmy Jr. are endgame. We’ve known since Season 1, when he gave her her first kiss at her 13th birthday party. But 15 seasons later, he’s still dancing around his feelings and refusing to altogether recognize that his would-be girlfriend is the smart, strong, sensual woman that she knows she is. If he doesn’t make it happen once and for all — and we hate to issue threats — we just might start shipping Tina and Zeke. — Charlie Mason
Carver and Violet, Chicago Fire
Given the relationship rollercoaster that the firefighter and paramedic have been on for the past two seasons, it’s kind of surprising to recall that Carver and Violet have never actually dated. They started off keeping things casual and mostly physical after Violet’s boyfriend tragically died, but Carver got in too deep and fell in love. Unfortunately, Violet pushed him away… and into the arms of toxic Tori. And sure, Violet’s dating someone new now, and Carver recently got out of a bad relationship, but we are so ready for the pair to wise up and give commitment a real try. — Vlada Gelman
Georgia and Joe, Ginny & Georgia
It’s been ages since the Netflix dramedy’s last season — technically, two years — but we haven’t forgotten about the chemistry and yearning between Georgia and café owner Joe. After he realized that they had already met before during a memorable encounter as teens, Joe tried to distract himself by having an affair with Cynthia, while Georgia busied herself with her engagement to Paul. But the pair’s feelings for each other are evident in every one of their interactions, no matter how much they try to bury them. It’s time to stop running from the past. — Vlada Gelman
Amelia and Monica, Grey’s Anatomy
Since Natalie Morales began recurring in Season 20 of the long-running ABC drama, sparks have flown between her character and Caterina Scorsone’s Amelia. Yet 15 episodes later (and counting), the Grey Sloan staffers haven’t so much as shared a kiss, much less played doctor. Instead, the show has killed time by having Monica hook up with Winston. But if she and Amelia don’t get together soon, it won’t just be time that’s killed, it’ll be us. We’re dying here; the chemistry is palpable! — Charlie Mason
Deborah and Marty, Hacks
It may be too early to demand that these two be endgame, but hey, when there’s chemistry, there’s chemistry! Sure, Jean Smart’s Deborah shares quite an adversarial past with her casino-owning former fling, but neither party is innocent in their squabbling. And yet, Deb loves a challenge, and Marty seems to have fallen for her. Will all of their tension — business, sexual and otherwise — turn into something real? If so, we’re here for it. — Nick Caruso
Morgan and Karadec, High Potential
When it comes to this LAPD odd couple, it’s not even a will they/won’t they situation — it’s simply inevitable. And after watching their chemistry develop over the course of the ABC procedural’s first season, we’re ready for “when” to be now. Don’t get us wrong, we were all in on Morgan and Tom, but that was before he took a new job in a city nearly two hours away. If Morgan is going to continue doing an entire department’s worth of detective work, she doesn’t have time to do long distance. — Andy Swift
Josie and Cruz, Lioness
Yeah, we know — there was a hint of cuddling that one time at Cruz’s place (before the rest of the team came barging in), and there was a lot of talk about getting together and (ahem) “not talking” once the season-ending firefight in Iran was over. But if there’s a Season 3, it’d be nice to know that these two birds of a badass feather actually enjoyed some quality time together. — Matt Webb Mitovich
Gibbs and Lala, NCIS: Origins
If these two do get together, we reckon it will be more of a half-marathon than a sprint. After all, it’s been well under a year since Gibbs lost both his wife and daughter to murder. Plus, Lala is still working through her feelings about his vengeful killing of Pedro Hernandez. But you do have to root for them, if only to then see why NCIS fans would never hear tell of this romantic blast from Gibbs’ past. — Matt Webb Mitovich
Lucy and Tim, The Rookie
It has been a long 10 months since a defeated Tim, after being dressed down by Sgt. Grey, initiated a break-up outside the cop shop, telling Lucy, “I just can’t go back to the way things were… maybe never.” Season 7’s Valentine’s Day/”ex sex” episode very much set the stage for a reboot of their romance — perhaps by season’s end? — Matt Webb Mitovich
Mark and Helly, Severance
With their flirty banter and palpable chemistry, these two corporate cuties played by Adam Scott and Britt Lower seem like your typical office romance — until you remember they have chips in their brains that make them forget each other outside the workplace. Oh, and on the outside, Mark has a dead wife who may still be alive, and Helly is actually the descendant of the founder of the company they both hate. Plus, Mark and Helly finally did the deed in Season 2, only for him to learn that he actually did it with Helena, her Outtie self. So yeah, it’s complicated… but we’re still rooting for Mark and the real Helly to make good on that elevator kiss and find a way to be together away from Lumon’s evil clutches. — Dave Nemetz
Nancy and Steve, Stranger Things
Sorry, Jonathan. After Steve’s behavior in Season 1, we’re as surprised as anybody to be championing a reunion for him and former girlfriend Nancy. But oh, are we ever! Steve’s redemption arc has been completed half a dozen times over, and it’s as obvious to us as it was to Eddie (R.I.P.) that Nancy’s feelings for her ex are as strong as — arguably stronger than — they ever were. The way she dove into a lake when she sensed that Steve was in danger? “That was as unambiguous a sign of true love,” Eddie said, “as these cynical eyes have ever seen.” Same, Eddie. Same. — Charlie Mason
Will and Angie, Will Trent
Look, arresting your one true love for tampering with evidence in a murder investigation, which then led to a spate of additional killings, is not the sorta thing a relationship typically overcomes. But Will and Angie are just not any couple. Their trauma bond is strong, and they understand each other better than anyone else could. In a word, they’re soulmates. That’s why we reject Angie’s recent “release” of Wilbur. Go have your fun with Gina Rodriguez and Scott Foley this season, then kiss and make up. — Ryan Schwartz
Kitty and Yuri, XO, Kitty
Once Kitty is done exploring her feelings for Min Ho, we hope the Netflix series gets back to the person who turned Kitty’s world on its axis and helped her realize that she’s bisexual: Yuri. Season 2 was a difficult one for the friends, who shared an illicit kiss, after which Yuri pushed Kitty away in hopes of getting back together with her girlfriend. Kitty was understandably hurt, but Kitty and Yuri have far too much story left to tell, not to mention genuine chemistry, for that to be the end of their journey. — Vlada Gelman
