9.Marc Summers walked off the 2024 docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV because they "did a bait and switch on" him. When he did the interview, he was unaware the documentary was intended to expose the "dark side" of Nickelodeon.
On the Elvis Duran Show, he said, "They asked me what I thought of Nick, and the first 10 to 12 seconds, from what I understand, in this documentary is me saying all these wonderful things. But they did a bait and switch on me. They ambushed me. They never told me what this documentary was really about. And so they showed me a video of something that I couldn't believe was on Nickelodeon. And I said, 'Well, let's stop the tape right here. What are we doing?'
I left. So I got a phone call about six weeks ago saying you're totally out of the show. And I went, 'Great.' Then they called me about four weeks ago and said, 'Well, you're in it, but you're only in the first part of it because you talked about the positive stuff of Nickelodeon,'" Summers says. "What they didn't tell me — and they lied to me about — was the fact that they put in that other thing where they had the camera on me when they ambushed me. And so, now we get into a whole situation about who's unethical."
10.In 2020, Joaquin Phoenix walked out of an interview with the Telegraph after the reporter asked if he was "worried that [Joker] might perversely end up inspiring exactly the kind of people its about, with potentially tragic results."
After the question was posed, Joaquin said, "Why Why would you…? No… no." Then he shook the reporter's hand and walked out.
After an hour of "peace-brokering with a Warner Bros PR," the actor returned and continued the interview. He asked, "Did you bug out?"
11.In 2019, Naomi Campbell reportedly declined to answer a red carpet reporter's questions about Liam Payne, whom she was rumored to be dating at the time, and walked away.
In lieu of an answer, she simply said, "Thank you so much."
12.In 2019, Adam Driver reportedly walked out of an NPR Fresh Air interview because he didn't like it when host Terry Gross played a clip of the actor singing "Being Alive" from Company (which Adam's character sings in Marriage Story).
A source told the Daily Beast that the show's team knew Adam disliked listening to himself on tape and advised him to take off his headphones when the clip was played.
In an email, executive producer Danny Miller told the outlet, "We don't really understand why he left. We were looking forward to the interview — Terry thinks he's a terrific actor; he was a great guest when he was on [Fresh Air] in 2015 — so we were disappointed that we didn't have a new interview to share with our listeners about Marriage Story."
NPR aired a rerun episode in place of Adam's botched interview.
13.During a 2013 appearance on Howard TV, Mel B endured a series of invasive questions about her sexuality from host Howard Stern. Then, when he tried to pressure her into coming out, she left the set.
