Whoopi Goldberg Launches Medical Marijuana Line to Help Relieve Menstrual Cramps
Whoopi Goldberg is getting into the cannabis business – and with a ladies-first mindset.
The Oscar-winning actress is launching a medical marijuana line geared toward soothing period cramps, she told Vanity Fair. Created in partnership with cannabis company Om Edibles owner Maya Elisabeth, the Maya & Whoopi line will hawk cannabis edibles, topical rubs, liquid extracts and a THC-infused bath soak, some made only with cannabidiol.
Goldberg, an outspoken advocate for marijuana use, said the products are meant to rid discomfort and target those who don't feel comfortable just "smok[ing] a joint."
"This, you can put it in your purse," The View co-host told Vanity Fair. "You can put the rub on your lower stomach and lower back at work, and then when you get home you can get in the tub for a soak or make tea, and it allows you to continue to work throughout the day."

The 60-year-old, who has two granddaughters who suffer from "severe cramps," said she realized the market for a product targeting feminine pain and praised its all-natural ingredients. Goldberg herself suffers from glaucoma-related headaches, which she's long relieved with marijuana.
"It's important for people to know that there are alternatives out there to pain management, and this one is particularly magical," Goldberg wrote of using a vaporizer pen in a 2014 column in The Cannabist.
California residents with a medical marijuana card will be able to purchase Whoopi & Maya products starting in April.
