Khloé Kardashian Talks Unhealthy Past: ‘It Started When My Parents Were Going Through a Divorce’
Over the past couple of years, Khloé Kardashian has gotten into serious shape and proudly flaunts her fab physique every chance she gets. She looks so good that she even landed a gig as the host of E!’s new show, Revenge Body, which helps other people who desire to undergo a similar transformation. But the reality star, 32, hasn’t always been quite as confident about her outward appearance. The youngest Kardashian sister has admitted she felt like “the chubby one” in her family while growing up, and explained to Yahoo Celebrity how that came to be.
“I think it all started when my parents [Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian] were going through a divorce,” she revealed. “I think they were stressed out doing their own thing, and they kind of would always let us have fast food. And I got comfortable with doing the fast food.”
But that didn’t mean she didn’t get exercise. Though Khloé’s parents regularly fed her fast food, they also encouraged her to get involved in extracurricular sports like volleyball and basketball. “My parents never ever told me I was large or anything like that, but they would do it the subtle way, like, ‘We’re going to sign you up for softball,'” she recalled, admitting that being active wasn’t enough to keep the pounds off. “I’ve always been an emotional eater, so I probably ate more [calories] than I burned.”

As she got older, Khloé’s social life sometimes got in the way of staying fit. “When I was married [to former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom], I would go to basketball games all the time. I went to every single home game, and for some reason I felt the need to have nachos at every single home game!”
Though Khloé’s still a frequent basketball game attendee (she is, after all, dating Cleveland Cavaliers player Tristan Thompson), these days she swaps out the chips for a bottle of water, a decision she chalks up to simply being older and a little bit wiser.
“When you get older, knowledge is power,” she noted when asked the secret to her fitness success. “If you know better, you do better. And that did come with age and experience.”
