David Bowie’s Son Disses Lady Gaga’s Grammys Tribute
While the rest of the world was entranced by Lady Gaga’s Grammys tribute to David Bowie, a mashup of all of his best-loved hits, Bowie’s son was seemingly not so impressed.
Tweeting out, context free, the Oxford definition, of “gaga,” Duncan Jones fiercely implied that his impression of the tribute to his father was less than entertaining.
“overexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused.” Damn it! What IS that word!?

“‘[O]verexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused,” Jones said, adding: “Damn it! What IS that word!?”
Lady Gaga gets her stage name, as she’s said before, from an autocorrect misspelling of the Queen song “Radio Ga Ga.”
Jones, 44, is the only child from Bowie’s first marriage to Angie Bowie; Bowie also had a daughter with his widow Iman, who has not yet shared her reaction to Gaga’s tribute. Jones is a director and producer based in London. Just last week — a month after Bowie’s unexpected death from cancer — Jones revealed that his wife, Rodene Ronquillo, was pregnant with Bowie’s first grandchild.
While Jones’s reaction was less than ideal, online fans of Bowie’s seemed pleased with Lady Gaga’s interpretation of the Starman’s music. Among others, Gaga performed portions of “Space Oddity,” “Changes,” “Fashion,” “Let’s Dance,” and ended the show with “Heroes.”
