Winnie Harlow shares revealing selfie to celebrate unique beauty
Winnie Harlow might have become a contestant on America’s Next Top Model hoping to front fashion campaigns and walk runways around the world, but she’s emerged as a role model (of course, in addition to a killer career).
Her latest dose of inspiration comes courtesy of a revealing Instagram. Harlow, whose loss of skin color comes from vitilgo, shared a mirror selfie of her backside wearing just underwear. She wrote in the caption, “the real difference isn’t my skin. It’s the fact that I don’t find my beauty in the opinions of others. I’m beautiful because I know it. Celebrate Your unique beauty today (& everyday)!”

In just a few hours, the 23-year-old’s post was flooded with hundreds of thousands of likes and nearly as many words of encouragement. “Say it loud girl #Super model Winnie. That self confidence that you have they won’t ever have it. That’s why they are hating on you. What doesn’t kill u make you stronger. U have change a lot of life, stay positive,” one person commented. Another chimed in with, “You are so courageous it’s absolutely unbelievable (we can fully relate).”
Since her humble beginnings as a contestant on Tyra Banks’s competition show, Harlow has catapulted to fame, collaborating on projects with big names such as Beyoncé (she appeared in the visual accompaniment to Lemonade) to big brands like Burt’s Bees. Throughout it all, she’s delivered a positive message of acceptance to her fans and more than 2 million Instagram followers: to embrace the skin you’re in and be the best versions of yourself.
