Hilary Duff and Alyssa Milano Chop Off Their Hair

If you’re looking for a dramatic change for 2016, add Hilary Duff and Alyssa Milano to your inspiration fodder. Duff debuted a choppy bob on Instagram on Saturday, crediting New York City-based hairstylist Cynthia Vanis for the transformation. “Thanks for trusting me with your locks buddy…@hilaryduff #shorthairdontcare #basicallytwins” wrote Vanis on her Instagram, including two photos of the short-haired duo together. Vanis is a hairstylist on the set of Younger, Duff’s TV Land show. Two days ago, she had posted a photo of blonde locks she had (presumably) just chopped off. “That’s a wrap on season 2 of @youngertv #shorthairdontcare @hilaryduff,” she captioned the photo. On the show, Duff plays Kelsey Peters, the 20-something coworker of Suttin Foster’s 40-year-old divorced character, Liza Miller.

43-year-old actress Milano got a pixie cut, which she debuted on Saturday, too. “Short hair don’t care,” she wrote on Instagram, also making a shoutout to her glam squad, makeup artist Scott Patric and hairstylist Linh Nguyen.

Duff isn’t the first celebrity to chop off her hair after filming a show — in November 2015, Scream Queens star Emma Roberts said goodbye to her Queen Bee character, Chanel, with shorter hair. And famously, Emma Watson debuted a controversial and career-defining pixie cut after wrapping up the filming of seven Harry Potter movies. “I’d been on Harry Potter for ten years so I needed to mark the end of it in some way. I needed a drastic change and that’s what the crop was all about,” Watson told Metro in 2010. Duff is a seasoned performer by now — but losing her Lizzie McGuire locks gives her a totally different look that just might boost her career. Milano appears to agree.
