Over are the days when a hotel stay meant uninspired room service, mini bars stocked with junk food, and small, lackluster fitness centers. Today, healthy amenities and initiatives are being implemented to appeal to wellness-conscious guests who don’t want their holiday to destroy their diet and exercise regimes. Featuring everything from on-call sleep doctors to in-house personal trainers, check out these six hotelsto whom we tip our cap.
Longevity Wellness Resort, Monchique, Portugal
Upon arrival at the Longevity Wellness Resort, named the most life-changing spa by the Tatler Spa Awards, guests have the option to meet with a medical consultant who will recommend spa treatments, weight loss solutions, anti-aging therapies and anti-stress programs, as needed. Guests can choose from a fitness-, detox- or spa-focused stay, with an extensive menu of treatments featuring everything from body scrubs and deep healing massages to detox treatments.
Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers, Denmark
The environmentally friendly Crowne Plaza Copenhagen strives for good health, and not just for its guests. Named the world’s greenest hotel, the CPC is covered with solar panels, uses groundwater based cooling and heating, and is proud to recycle everything, from food to shampoo bottles. They also encourage guests to do their part while exercising; several bikes are hooked up to generators that are connected to an electrical grid. When riding the bikes, guests are able to restore power to the grid that can then be used throughout the hotel.

The Benjamin Hotel - New York, NY
According to a report from the National Sleep Foundation, sixty percent of adults have difficulty sleeping almost every night. For this reason, The Benjamin Hotel tapped sleep expert Rebecca Robbins to help create their “Rest and Renew” program. The highlights; guests are given a pillow menu with twelve different options to choose from; each night rooms are sprayed with lavender, temperatures are turned up, blackout shades are pulled down, eye masks are provided, and guests receive a phone call from the 24-hour sleep concierge reminding them to shut down their electronic devices an hour before bed. Sleep inducing massages are encouraged, and midnight snacks such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or a warm glass of milk are available.
Malibu Beach Inn, Malibu, CA
Malibu Beach Inn’s wide range of fitness offerings, all performed against the stunning backdrop of secluded Carbon Beach, include one-on-one sessions with a personal trainer, private yoga lessons, and group classes. From the cardio intensive Beach Bootcamp, to the less extreme Thai Yoga, Pilates, or MELT Method, a core strength class, the Malibu Beach Inn offers guests the rare luxury of getting in nearly any kind of workout without ever leaving the beach.

Trump Hotel Chicago
Experience Trump Wellness, a recently launched three-pronged wellness initiative that includes “Nourish”, a program stipulating that at least one-third of all menu items served in Trump hotels must fall into the health food category. Vegan and gluten free options, such as vegan black bean chili and gluten free orange cranberry muffins, are available, and all dishes are made from organic, locally sourced ingredients and include detailed nutritional information.
Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Mexico
While the vistas may be so stunning you never want to leave your lounge chair, the Four Seasons Punta Mita is committed to keeping its guests in swimsuit-ready shape. The fitness center is packed with the latest Technogym equipment and personal trainers are available upon request. The hotel also offers weekly 90-minute boot camps, strength training and yoga classes. For those interested in outdoor fitness, guided hikes, plus kayak and surf lessons are available, as are daily tennis lessons and clinics taught by pro players.
