How to Match Your Mani to Your Clutch
The concept of matching your lipstick to your outfit is nothing new — we’ve see tons of our favorite celebs pull off the look on the red carpet — but what about matching your nails to your clutch?
I asked Nadine Abramcyk, owner of New York City salon tenoverten, for her tips when it comes to matching your polish. “Choose one shade lighter or one shade darker. It shouldn’t be an exact match,” she says. If the color is slightly off, it adds more dimension and won’t seem so flat. Also, if you’re heading to the salon, make sure you have your clutch on hand. “Don’t try to color match from memory,” says Abramcyk. “You’d be surprised, people do bring their bags into the salon before an event to make sure it’s the right fit!” As far as what not to do, she says to avoid nail art if you’re carrying a clutch with a print as it will read as too busy. “If you’re choosing nail art with a simple, single color clutch, then only use two of the colors in the manicure.” She recommends sticking with straight lines that will pair well with the linear design of the clutch.
With Abramcyk's advice and a little inspiration from the collection of nail polishes that Jin Soon launched in collaboration with accessories brand Tila March back in February and decided to pair a few of our favorite spring clutches with their perfect manicure shades.
