Lola Kirke Didn’t Shave Her Underarms for the Golden Globes

Lola Kirke made the biggest beauty statement of last night’s Golden Globes, and she didn’t have to try very hard to make it. The actress turned out to the ceremony last night in a gorgeous strapless floral embroidered Andrew Gn gown, which made some folks notice that Kirke has ditched the razor in favor of letting her armpit hair grow freely.

Must run in the family. The Mozart in the Jungle star’s older sister, Jemima Kirke, of HBO’s Girls, has gone to more than a few events rocking the pit hair with pride.

Lola took to Instagram to thank her hair, makeup, and styling team — as well as those on social media who didn’t make violent threats against her for not shaving.

“Thanks to all you beautiful people who didn’t send me death threats on account of my #awesome #hairyarmpits! You rule,” she wrote in a caption.

The Kirke sisters are part of a bigger movement of women who have thrown social norms to the wind and allowed their bodies to do what they do naturally — grow hair! Madonna, Julia Roberts, and Miley Cyrus have all shown off the natural look in the past.
