Here's the Truth About Gigi Hadid's New Bangs
Gigi Hadid's chunky new bangs were arguably the *star* of the MTV Video Awards last night – closely followed by Zac Efron's biceps. We were totally obsessing over the bold look, but at the same time, we wondered whether Gigi really chopped her hair or if she was hair-pranking us, like she did with her faux bob at the 2015 American Music Awards.
It turns out, Gigi was rocking faux fringe after all. Her hairstylist Bryce Scarlett confirmed that Gigi's beauteous new bangs are all thanks to a sneaky clip-in wig. Scarlett told Seventeen.com, "It is a very like small partial wig – it's a clip-on piece. The whole little front piece is faux. None of her hair was cut."
Oh bangs, you tricksters! You really had us going!
He also shared that the whole idea was Gigi's. "She was wearing Versace, we wanted to kind of do something that Donatella would do. Gigi wanted to do an homage to Donatella... It was her idea from the beginning – she was really happy about it."
Even though Gigi looked totally killer with the edgy fringe, Scarlett says we probably won't be seeing this look on Gigi long-term. "I mean never say never, but I think that the fun in all this – the fun of it being just for a night – is that for someone like Gigi who is a model and changes her look every day for work she... needs to be able to do something fun like this for a night and then take it away so she has enough hair to work with for the next [photo shoot]."
