Galaxy Halloween Makeup That Is Pure Black Girl Magic

If you’re anything like me, you’d rather come up with a clever Halloween costume idea that incorporates your unique personal style than go out and pay for an overpriced ensemble.

To celebrate the beauty and power that makes up my very own black girl magic this Halloween, I challenged Make Up For Ever pro artist Ruben Garcia to make me over with galaxy makeup inspired by Ivy Kungu. Scroll down for his pro secrets and product recommendations to create this far-out look.

Step 1: Apply a base

Sponge Water Blend Face & Body Foundation onto the face and neck for a natural, dewy finish. Then, brighten under eyes with Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation. Use a large kabuki brush and

HD Microfinish Powder to set makeup.

Step 2: Fill in eyebrows

To prevent brows from fading into the face paint, use Aqua Brow Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector to make them really stand out.

Pro tip: A small angled brow brush will give you more control when grooming brows with pigment.

Step 3: Add face paint

Bring warmth back to your complexion with a light dusting of HD Blush in Black Currant and swipe of Aqua Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Rosewood. Line the upper lids and waterline with a matte black cream pencil like Aqua Matic Eyeshadow in M-11. To create the dark sky, apply Artist Shadow Eyeshadow and Powder Blush in M100 (a matte black) across one eye and along jawline, down the neck. Layer Artist Shadow I220 (an iridescent sapphire) on top.

Pro tip: Highlight the black galaxy with Artist Shadow D-552 (a celestial blue) with shimmer.

Step 4: Draw on accents

Take Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliner in M-15 (a matte white) and artist brush coated with white Flash Color and paint on the stars.

Pro tip: For extra sparkle, use Diamond Powder 12 (a sparkling baby blue).

To finish, fluff out your natural hair and shine bright like a star!
