7 Headbands That Actually Stay Put During Your Workout

Gaiam Braided Headband
The Cost: $10.98 on Gaiam
What We Wore it To: A body conditioning class
Our Thoughts: “The material of this one feels substantial, but in a good way. It didn’t pinch at all. I sweat a lot, so the extra material from the braids helped sop up the sweat.” -Amanda

Nike Lotus Running Headband
Cost: $18 on Nike
What We Wore It To: An outdoor run
Our Thoughts: “I wore this with my hair in a ponytail, and the headband didn’t even come close to slipping off. To be honest, I completely forgot I had it on! And it wicked away the sweat, as advertised.” -Amanda

Lucy Power Double Strap Headband
($10 on Lucy)
What We Wore It To: An indoor volleyball game
Our Thoughts: "I always felt like it was going to come off my head, but every time I reached up to touch my head, it was still there and hadn’t slipped. It did the job — it kept flyaways out of my face and sopped up the sweat that dripped from my brow. But, I would recommend using hair clips to clip this headband into your hair, just so it feels secure.” -Amanda

Lululemon Fringe Fighter
Cost: $18 on Lululemon
What We Wore It To: A run
Our Thoughts: “I wore my hair up in a ponytail, and this kept my hair back the whole time. It feels … “safe” — as in, I didn’t have to worry about putting my hands to my face to keep it in place. Plus, the small metal Lululemon logo detail makes it look more sophisticated. Bonus for post-workout errands!” -Emily

Violet Love by Rebecca Michaels Stretch Headband
Cost: $17 on Violet Love
What We Wore It To: An outdoor run
Our Thoughts: “This one works really well! I completely forgot I had it on, and I didn’t have to use clips or anything. I wore it with a high bun. I love the material, too — so soft and stretchy.” -Amanda

Mia Sport Reversible Reflective Headband
($6 on MiaBeauty)
What We Wore It To: An outdoor run
Our Thoughts: “The reflective strips are a runner’s dream. This one felt tight around my head (I wore it with a ponytail), but i would suggest securing the headband with hairclips to your hair if you’re doing something of higher intensity.” -Amanda
If you’ve ever noticed that girl in yoga/CrossFit/barre/soccer who’s always wearing a cute workout headband, and wondered, How the heck does that thing stay on her head?, well, you’re not alone.
Fitness headbands are so cute, and they seem like they would be so functional — keeping flyaways from distracting us when we’re in the middle of our reps, sopping up the sweat after doing laps — but sometimes they’re too tight… or too bulky… or just plain don’t stay on our heads.
So we at Yahoo Health put several fitness headbands to the test, trying them out for different workouts and seeing how well they stayed put, wicked away sweat, and looked aesthetic-wise. Here are our favorites.
